March 26, 2007. HUNTSVILLE, AL. The Huntsville Botanical Garden and the Garden Guild present the Annual Spring Plant Sale on April 12-15. Celebrating more than a quarter of a century in 2007, the sale is a perennial success!

A long-established Huntsville rite of spring, the Plant Sale offers annuals by the flat or pack, ferns, geraniums, a huge selection of herbs, cherished heirloom or ‘pass-along plants, houseplants, orchids, perennials, heirloom roses, hundreds of varieties of vegetable plants, water plants, wildflowers, shrubs, vines, and trees. All varieties have been specially selected to thrive in North Alabama.

Container gardening is a hot gardening topic because it’s manageable and easy. The Plant Sale offers a tent with demonstration containers for sun, shade, foliage and herbs. ‘Recipes’ for each pot are available, free of charge, detailing exactly which and how many of each plant you need to build your own colorful container.

The Master Gardeners of North Alabama will again provide free pH testing – all they need is a baggie of dry soil collected from your garden. Your soil’s pH is important to know because different plant materials thrive or barely survive according to the pH level of the soil. No gardening question will go unanswered, and all advice is free of charge. Tomato plants have long been a specialty of Master Gardeners.

A vendor area will include original ‘yard art’, tools, pots, garden sheds and gardening books – everything you need for a great garden!

There is no admission or parking charge and purchases are loaded, with care, for free. Admission is charged for visitors touring the Garden. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and personal checks. Hours are Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Sunday, 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Proceeds from the Spring Plant Sale, which is sponsored by The Garden Guild, benefit the Huntsville Botanical Garden.

At the Huntsville Botanical Garden there's always something growing on!
