Adult Programs
- Birding 101: Introduction to Bird Watching,
March 29 OR April 12, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Boeing Education Classroom
- Fred Stevenson and Pam White of the Tennessee Valley Audubon Society
have updated this popular program. Bird watching is a fun and entertaining
way to commune with nature. In this introductory class, you will be
introduced to why birds are important, how to identify birds and their calls,
how to feed birds, tools of the trade, and much more. Mom and Dad, bring
the kids and make bird watching a family hobby! NOTE: Child must be eight
years or older.
Fee: Members $10, Non-members $15, Parent/Child Teams $15.
- Bonsai Workshop - Phoenix Graft or Evergreen Forest
May 3,12-4 p.m., Anderson Education Center Community Room
- Join Allyson Shabel and David Hayes, keepers of the Garden’s Bonsai
Collection, as they help you create an evergreen forest using five to seven
plants or a phoenix graft (the process of mounting a live tree onto a piece
of deadwood to add age and character to a young plant). A bonsai forest
about 12 inches tall will be created from three-year old plants. This is an
intermediate level class.
Fee: Members $50, Non-members $60.
