FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE HUNTSVILLE BOTANICAL GARDEN GUILD PRESENTS
THE ANNUAL SPRING PLANT SALE

The Huntsville Botanical Garden Guild presents the annual Spring Plant Sale from April 11th - 13th behind Grisham Pavilion at the Garden. If you want to get your yard and garden ready for spring and summer, you won’t want to miss the largest plant sale in North Alabama - with both a wide variety of botanicals and advice from the experts!

A long-established Huntsville tradition, the Plant Sale offers annuals by the flat or pack, ferns, geraniums, a huge selection of herbs, cherished heirloom or ‘pass-along plants, houseplants, orchids, perennials, heirloom roses, hundreds of varieties of vegetable plants, water plants, vines, wildflowers, shrubs, vines, native azaleas and trees. All varieties have been specially selected to thrive in North Alabama.

Container gardening is a hot gardening topic because it’s manageable and easy. Once again this year, a demonstration tent - with the Garden’s own expert Stacey Scannell - will feature containers for sun, shade, foliage and herbs. Stacey will assist you with plant selection and provide you with the ideal recipe detailing exactly which and how many of each plant you need to build your own colorful container.

The Master Gardeners of North Alabama will be conducting free pH tests for plant sale
shoppers in the Master Gardener Tent during the Garden’s Spring Plant Sale. Interested shoppers should bring a cup of "dry" soil from each lawn or garden area to be tested and drop off the soil at the Master Gardener tent for testing before they shop. Test results can be picked up at the Master Gardener’s tent as shoppers leave the sale.
In addition, no gardening question will go unanswered, and all advice is free of charge. Tomato plants have long been a specialty of the Master Gardeners.

A vendor area will include original ‘yard art,’ tools, pots, garden sheds and gardening books - everything you need for a great garden! A few of the vendors include Springer Sales offering recycled plastic heavy duty outdoor furniture; P & L Reproductions, iron work & Garden art; Karin Mack, Stone Pots with faces; The Funny Farm, Bromeliads; Nanny's Old Fashion Lemonade, and Alabama Fence & Play, shepherd hooks, plant hangers, iron window planters, plant stands made from of iron!

There is no admission or parking charge and purchases are loaded, with care, for free.  Admission is charged for visitors touring the Garden. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and personal checks. Hours are Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Sunday, April 13, 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. Proceeds from the Spring Plant Sale, which is sponsored by The Garden Guild, benefit Huntsville Botanical Garden.
