Experiencing Bird Migration: A Gardening Perspective
Saturday February 16, 2013:
Murray Hall

Each Spring and Fall, for a two to three week period, thousands of migrating songbirds fly over the Tennessee Valley on their epic journey between their nesting areas in the northern parts of North America and wintering areas in the tropics.

Join us for a special birding workshop presented by local bird enthusiast Herb Lewis. Herb will share some secrets of creating a magnet for birds in your own backyard. “Experiencing Bird Migration: A Gardening Perspective” will include proven techniques of garden design for creating your own backyard bird-friendly habitat. His simple ideas and principles have brought 80 bird species to his Huntsville backyard since 2004. He will share photos of many migrating birds enjoying his wildlife habitat environment.

In addition, Herb will discuss the Garden’s newly developed Birding Trail that has revealed 70 species of birds over the past year, and will discuss the Great Backyard Bird Count event. He will also lead a birding tour to introduce the Garden’s Birding Trail. Please bring your own binoculars!

Members $15, Non-members $20.
