In the Garden

Join the 16th annual Great Backyard Bird Count

Take part in a family-friendly, educational activity that is lots of fun and helps your local birds!
Each year, tens of thousands of people throughout the US and Canada take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) by counting birds in their community and reporting the numbers and species to GBBC. People of all ages and all levels of bird-watching experience are welcome to participate.

We will supply you with a list of birds commonly seen at the Garden in February along with color photographs to help you ID the birds on the checklist. Come help us count birds in the Garden! It’s an ideal way for more experienced birders to introduce children, grandchildren, and others to the wonderful world of birds or for fledgling birders to learn new species!

You can explore which species have been seen in our community by using maps and charts on the GBBC website (http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/). Make the birds in your neighborhood count! Join in this year’s Great Backyard Bird Count.

Download a Garden Birding Trail map made possible by a generous donation from Wild Birds Unlimited. Get more Information on the Garden's Birding Trail.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is led by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, with Canadian partner Bird Studies Canada and sponsorship from Wild Birds Unlimited.
