When will I receive my membership card?
Your membership card(s) will be mailed to you within 2 weeks of joining the Garden or renewing your membership. If you don’t get your card(s) within that timeframe, please call or e-mail the membership department. One card will be issued for an individual membership, up to two cards will be issued for each of the two adults included in a family, grandparent or higher level membership. You do not need a card for your children or grandchildren under the age of 18.
What if I lose or forget my membership card?
If you lose or forget your membership card when you visit the Garden, our Visitor Center staff will look up your record while you wait. If you need a replacement card, please let the staff know and it will be mailed to you.
What is the Reciprocal Admissions Program?
Established by the American Horticultural Society to encourage people to visit gardens while traveling, the Huntsville Botanical Garden is a participating member of the AHS Reciprocal Admissions Program. Your membership with us will provide you special admission prices (often free) and other discounts when visiting the nearly 300 gardens currently participating in the program. Simply show your Huntsville Botanical Garden membership card when visiting one of these gardens – you must have your card with you to qualify. The AHS is actively adding gardens to the list, so to get the most current list, visit http://www.ahs.org/gardening-programs/rap.
Are my children or grandchildren included in a Garden Affiliate or higher level membership?
Yes, if they are under the age of eighteen. As you increase your support of the Garden through each level of membership, the benefits in the membership levels grow.
I have visitors coming. Is their admission included on my family membership?
A family membership includes up to two adults in the same household and their children under the age of 18. Any additional people would need to purchase admission separately. If you expect to bring guests to the Garden, the Affiliate and higher levels of membership will provide you with prepaid guest passes. Consider upgrading your membership level today!
What are some of the member only events?
Currently, member only events include a preview day of the plant sale, an annual meeting and dinner in September, and special members benefits during Galaxy of Lights, and pop-up benefits.
Are Galaxy of Light tickets included in my membership?
Galaxy of Lights is the Garden’s biggest fundraiser and is operated after-hours by a group of dedicated volunteers. Members are offered discounts when buying Galaxy tickets in advance, and other special benefits. You will receive information in the mail in October with all the Galaxy information.
When is the Butterfly House open?
Butterflies like the warm weather! The Butterfly House is generally open from May through September – watch your newsletter or Garden e-mails for the grand opening dates each year.
Is the Garden open longer during the summer?
The current hours of the Garden for the months of May through September are Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Sunday 12 – 6 p.m. From October through April, the hours are Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 – 5 p.m.
Do I have to be a gardener to volunteer?
Absolutely not! There are numerous types of volunteer opportunities at the Garden including administrative tasks, working in our Gift Shop or Tea Room, helping with education programs and special events, and yes, even lots of chances to enjoy gardening! This is a great place to meet new people, learn new things and be a part of a very special place. The Garden is about the people who love it – come and be part of the story!
